Noisy Shell Sound is an audio engineering studio in Hampton Roads, Virginia, providing church sound system design and installation, AV training for volunteer teams, live event sound, and voice and audiobook narration.
Kyle handles the engineering: designing and installing systems, mixing services and events, and training the volunteers who run the board every week. Jill narrates, and runs the design and social side of the business.
Everything Noisy Shell Sound does today came by word of mouth. One church told another, a friend passed along an event, and it grew from there. This site exists because word of mouth only reaches so far, and because a pastor searching at 10pm should be able to find the same answer a neighbor would have given them.
The short version.

- We tell you when you do not need to buy anything. That happens more often than you would think.
- Every install ends with a walkthrough, written settings, and a team that can run it.
- We work around your calendar. Sunday is not a day we take a room out of service.
Why Noisy Shell?
The name Noisy Shell originally came from childhood memories of listening to the ocean through conch shells. Occasionally, a stereo playing down the beach and out of sight would make the shells magically produce music.
As I grew older, I learned about the science behind the magic, and it enthralled me. To honor that inspiration and wonder at the science and art of producing, Noisy Shell was born.

Why we do this.
Now, I live the dream of making music and producing vocal work with my wife, while also serving churches of all denominations in the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads area. For over 25 years I’ve worked in music production, audio engineering, and sound design. And, during military service where I had the privilege of using these skills across the world, I felt called to help.
So many churches I’ve attended face the same challenges: ministries trying their best with limited budgets, aging equipment, and volunteers who were eager but under-trained. Our mission is to improve your worship experience, train a resilient staff, and make your systems easier to manage while working within your expressed constraints. Most churches find that we can diagnose and solve their most pressing issues during our first appointment. And if that’s all you need, we’re grateful to have connected with and served you.
We also believe that faith grows stronger when it’s supported. On our Community page, we can connect you with our network of congregations, across denominational lines.
